Tom Simpson and more

Updated: Feb 26, 2018
busy week with 250 odd miles and 11000 feet climbed an no ride Monday. Monday was taken up with the easy task of fitting the update to the rear end of the Jackson trike to give more gears with more modern fitments. Eight hours odd of fiddling and cursing, eight cogs were now available to call on at the back. A no ride Monday then as I was sick of the trike. Tuesday after work and I find that I hadn't finished the job so a careful ride back home and the job finished D'oh! Wednesday and a better 30 miles and no real issues to sort. Thursday a pair of donated hubs arrive through the door and the ride brings back a pair of donated rims happy days! Thankyou Mr Arnold and mssrs DaveRaynerCyclesport! Friday new hill and some hill repeats nothing spectaular though. Saturday ahh Saturday brings a puncture and the realisation that my pump is deceased at only 30 years old. I shall think about contacting Silka to complain!
SUNDAY.

Tom Simpson memorial ride, a ride to celebrate the 1965 World champion from Harworth (indirectly) a Glorious winter day (spring would be better) and the ride from home to Harworth with four riding buddies commenced. When we arrived TdF star Barry Hoban was there with Toms widow (now Barry's wife) and Joanne Tom's daughter. Joanne was going to ride the ride. A great ride was had but hard work with many participants passing me and a few passed by me. At the and of the day about 120 miles was covered and my biggest distance of the year covered. (I might post more photo's should any emerge.
